The Book of Knots - The Book of Knots

"The First Book of Knots Project. Featuring the founding quatro of Tony Maimone, Joel Hamilton, Carla Kihlstedt and Matthias Bossi. Joining them are Luminaries: Jon Langford, Brandon Seabrook, Catherine Oberg, Matthew Waugh, Megan Reilly, Jason Mills, Norman Westberg, Dave Curran, Alice Lee and Cassis. Loosely inspired by growing up in a small depressed fishing community."
An amazingly atmospheric, varied and interesting record. I don't even know to what it could possibly be likened. Just get it and listen.

Kan Mikami - Barking Practice /// White Lines

Kan Mikami is a Japanese blues musician, known for his minimalistic guitar playing and expressive vocal style. And that's it, that's what this album is all about - Mikami's a blues-man, a bard, a singing poet. It's a pity I don't know Japanese, but for the rest like me the English lyrics can be found here. Highly recommended album.

Death Dust Extractor - Slay Your Masters or...

...Slave in Chains. Does that album title make sense? Apart from that tiny mistake - yeah (or is it really about slaying your master OR your slave in chains? Who knows with the japs?)! It's all about fucking the system, chaos, anarchy, blah-blah. Mostly chaos, considering the music. Nine tracks = nine blasts of fast, short and brutal Japanese crust/grind/thing/noisecore. Just lean back and enjoy these ten minutes of DJAH-DJAH-DJAH WAAAAAA ROAR! kinda fun.
